Lille Asia på Lillelørdag

Have you noticed that even though American-style 3D animations dominate our children's television, Japanese anime and manga still retain the 2-dimensional expression? It actually has something to do with the traditional Japanese aesthetic. There are many theories about it. One of them says that Japanese realism is always based on disregarding the distance between the viewer and the object, e.g. to observe birds and insects, or facial expressions as if they are right in front of you.

In line with the idea, the Japanese artist Haruna Inagaki will lead a workshop where we all create a large painting using lines and shapes that we trace from parts of our bodies. We will find out if it looks somewhat "Japanese".
