YING TAO
There’s a miraculous village on the periphery of Beijing. Many artists, writers, designers, and people from other creative industries quit their jobs and moved from the hustle and bustle metropolis to this village, to start a quiet and self-sustainable life. The village is their haven, their retreat.
This photo book is about one of their miracles.
That year Lu (Heron) lost both her job and her boyfriend before moving to a new city where she suppose to start from scratch again.
It all started from an invitation to a birthday party, the very first birthday party of a girl, whose name is Yingtao, which means cherry in Chinese. Lu was told to bring with her a camera so she can take some family pictures for the party hosts. She did, and never stopped after that. She and Yingtao established an intimate kinship-like friendship. In a long time Yingtao was always referring to her as “My Lu”, until Lu found Lang (Wolf), who loves her just as much. But the project didn’t stop there, and Yingtao just got even more love from both of them.
Lu started her new career after that as a children’s photographer. Yingtao has grown into a confident and beautiful teenager. And their story continues in that village.
